Yahoo! Design Stencil Kit v1.0

The Yahoo! Design Stencil Kit v.1 will help designers quickly create mockups for specifications and user testing. Stencil objects can be incorporated into a design to symbolize a specific kind of module, interaction, or even aesthetic.

These design stencils complement the Yahoo! Design Pattern and the Yahoo! User Interface Libraries by providing tangible objects that manifest the specific design patterns and code components. The stencil kit also contains links to YUI components and Design Pattern Library entries that help bring depth and tactical execution to designs.

Writing Your First YUI Application

O'Reilly's InsideRIA blog published a new tutorial about how to create an Instant Search widget using YUI AutoComplete and the Yahoo! Web Search API. This is the same treatment we use on the YUI web site to power the search box at the top right corner of the header.

The InsideRIA piece is cast as an introduction to YUI for those who have not explored the library. If you're an experienced YUI implementer interested in Instant Search, skip to the "Building Your First Application" section about a third of the way in.
